Dr. Ahmed, a graduate of St. John’s Medical College in India, is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Hawaii, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University, and Adjunct Faculty at Tripler Army Medical Center. He is a past president of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry and has published extensively in the field of geriatric psychiatry. He has also served as Vice Chair of the APA Scientific Program Committee and Chair of the APA’s Ethnic Minority Elderly Committee.
A Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and current member of the APA Assembly, Dr. Ahmed has been recognized with numerous honors, including the APA Weinberg Award for contributions to geriatric psychiatry, the Indo-American Psychiatric Association’s Service Award (2010), and the APA Distinguished Service Award in 2023.
