Dr. Nininger is board-certified psychiatrist practicing in New York and is affiliated with New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell. He is a voluntary faculty member of Weill Cornell Medicine. He received his M.D. from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1974 and completed his psychiatric residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York from 1978.
Dr. Nininger is a Distinguished Life Fellow of APA and served as Speaker of the Assembly from 2004-2005. He was a member of the APA Board of Trustees and member of the American Psychiatric Foundation. He also served as Vice Chair on the Steering Committee on Practice Guidelines.
