Lecture: Biosocial Treatment in Schizophrenia (presented at IPS)
Dr. McFarlane is Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont, Department of Psychiatry and Director of The Center for Psychiatric Research, Maine Medical Center and the Spring Harbor Hospital. He was an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. He recently published Multifamily Groups in the Treatment of Severe Psychiatric Disorders. His main research interests are in developing and testing family and social treatments for major mental illnesses and prevention of severe mental illness. In 2003, he was awarded the Distinguished Contribution to Family System Research A ward by the American Family Therapy Academy and in 2004, the Warren Williams Award by the American Psychiatric Association.
