Help raise awareness of the American Psychiatric Association Foundation (APAF) by becoming an APAF Ambassador.
APAF Ambassadors are APA Resident-Fellow Members and Medical Student Members who promote the APA Foundation’s work by delivering a presentation at their institution or at a local event.
Eligibility
Applicants must be current APA Resident-Fellow Members or Medical Student Members at the time of application. Applicants may be based anywhere in the world.
Program Benefits
The first 500 eligible applicants who complete the program requirements and submit documentation by the deadline will receive:
- Complimentary registration for the 2027 APA Annual Meeting in New York (May 1-5, 2027); can be in-person or virtual registration
- Up to three nights of hotel accommodation during the Annual Meeting (room and tax only)
Registration and hotel are arranged and paid for directly by the PASS Program. Hotel coverage applies to the lowest-cost standard room available through the official booking link. If participants reserve upgraded rooms or additional nights, those additional costs will not be covered by the PASS program; they will be paid out of pocket by the participant.
Benefits are only awarded to applicants who complete all program requirements by the deadline. Additional qualified applicants may be placed on a waitlist and may receive awards if space becomes available.
Awards are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The application may close early once capacity is reached.
Program Expectations
To complete the program, Ambassadors must:
- Maintain active APA Resident-Fellow Member or Medical Student Member status throughout the application period and at the time of the 2027 APA Annual Meeting.
- Deliver one presentation focused on the APA Foundation and its work.
- Presentations must be directly related to the APA Foundation. Presentations on unrelated topics will not be accepted.
- Presentations can be in-person or virtual.
- Submit documentation by December 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Application Timeline
The application for the APA Foundation Ambassador Program opens July 1, 2026 and closes December 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Optional monthly webinars will be offered from August through November to support Ambassadors. A sample presentation video is also available in the program portal.
There is one final deadline. All applications and program requirements must be completed by this date. No extensions will be provided. Applications may close early if the maximum number of applicants is reached.
Applicants who complete all program requirements by December 1, 2026 will be notified of their award status by the end of January 2027.
Terms and Conditions
Recipients may receive registration and lodging benefits through only one PASS Program. This means a maximum of one Annual Meeting registration and up to three hotel nights per individual, even if participating in multiple programs.
APAF funding is provided directly to APA on the recipient’s behalf. No funds are distributed to individuals. APAF is not responsible for travel, meals, transportation, upgraded rooms, additional hotel nights, or any other expenses related to attending the Annual Meeting.
Recipients must comply with all APA Annual Meeting policies and requirements and are not employees or representatives of APAF or APA.
Please apply thoughtfully. If you accept an award and later choose not to use it, APAF may determine that you are not eligible for future PASS Program opportunities.
