Dr. Sullivan earned her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in 1974. She completed her residency at VA Hospital Manhattan from 1974 to 1978, followed by further training at SUNY Stony Brook Medical Center from 1992 to 1996. She then completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the New York Presbyterian Hospital Program from 1997 to 2000. Her leadership roles include serving as Associate Director of Psychiatry and Medical Director of Ambulatory Care at Gouverneur Diagnostic and Treatment Center, as well as Regional Director of Psychiatry for the Queens Health Network beginning in 1990.
A dedicated advocate for both her patients and the field of psychiatry, Dr. Sullivan remains actively engaged in professional organizations. She is a member of the APA Women Psychiatrists Caucus and the New York County Psychiatric Society. A Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, she served as Speaker of the Assembly from 2011 to 2012 and was a member of the APA Board of Trustees.
