Dr. Brunt, a native of Long Beach Island, NJ, earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1945 before serving as a Captain in the Medical Corps from 1946 to 1948. In 1951, he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and was appointed the first Medical Director and Chief Administrator of the New Jersey State Hospital. He later transitioned to private practice in Wall and on Long Beach Island, where he continued his work until retiring in 2000.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Brunt found great fulfillment in teaching medical students and residents. He was a Life Member of the American Psychiatric Association, where he contributed to numerous committees, served as Speaker of the Assembly from 1971 to 1972, and was a member of the Board of Trustees from 1972 to 1975.
