Dr. Ross graduated from Tufts University School of Medical, Boston Mass. in 1942 and received his residency training at Brentwood V.A. Hospital in California. His post graduate work from 1946-1951 included Los Angeles Institute of Psychoanalysis, University of Southern California School of Medicine, and Neurology College of Medicine Evangelists in Los Angeles.
Between 1948 and 1958, Dr. Ross served as Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California Medical Center, Clinical Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles, Psychiatrist V.A. Mental Hygiene Clinic, Los Angeles, and Psychiatrist of University of California Medical Center. Dr. Ross was an APA member since 1948 and a fellow since 1953. He served as the Speaker of Assembly from 1956-1957 and on September 1, 1958, he became Medical Director of the APA.
