Dr. Reed, a native of Waukon, Iowa, graduated with highest honors from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1930. He completed his internship at Indianapolis City Hospital and became Assistant Superintendent in 1932. He received psychiatric training at Norway’s Psychiatric Hospital and later served as Assistant Director when the Indiana Neuro-Psychiatric Association (INPA) was established.
In 1977, Dr. Reed joined the faculty at the University of South Florida School of Medicine, where he became an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, providing clinical instruction to interns, medical students, and residents. He retired in 1983. He was a Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Reed served as Speaker of the Assembly from 1964 to 1965 and as Vice President from 1968 to 1969.
