Daniel Blain, M.D. (1898-1981)
Dr. Blain earned an M.D. in 1929 from Vanderbilt School of Medicine and interned at Peter Bent Brigham and City Hospitals in Boston from 1929-31. He was in private practice in Greenwich, Connecticut, and New York City from 1933-42.
In 1948, Dr. Blain was selected to be the Association’s first Medical Director. He set up a small office on I (Eye) Street in Washington, D.C. and began planning for the advancement of the Association in the post-war period. Dr. Blain served as President of the American Psychiatric Association from 1964-65.
