Herbert M. Gant

Assistant Editor/Editor/Executive Editor, Psychiatric News (1966-1998)

Mr. Gant earned his English degree from Centenary College of Louisiana in 1962. During his time at Centenary, he worked in a hospital emergency room, gaining valuable insight into the medical field. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army as a translator for the Army Security Agency. Merging his interests in writing and medicine, he began his editorial career in 1966 as Assistant Editor of Psychiatric News, working under Editor in Chief Robbie Robinson. He was named Editor in 1978 and subsequently became Executive Editor, serving in that position until his retirement in 1998.
