Robert "Robbie" Robinson, M.A. (1915-1980)
Editor/Director of Public Affairs, Psychiatric News (1965-1978)
Mr. Robinson graduated from St. Lawrence University at Canton, New York in 1936 with a B.S. degree and from 1936-1938 he was a graduate student at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, run cooperatively by Tufts College and Harvard University at Medford, Mass., where he received his M.A. degree in 1937.
Mr. Robinson served as Director of Public Affairs for the APA from 1948-1978 and was named an Honorary Fellow in 1973. For more than 30 years, his influence shaped nearly every APA communication, reflecting both his advocacy for individuals with mental illness and his gift for making psychiatric issues understandable to the public. As editor, he made Psychiatric News preeminent in the field.
