History Notes – The Beginnings of APA's Journal – Amariah Brigham was the first editor of the predecessor to the American Journal of Psychiatry and one of APA’s founding fathers. Both entities date back to 1844. APA celebrates its Sesquicentennial anniversary in 1994.
