Annual Meeting Rocked by Protests, Disruption
At the 123rd APA annual meeting in San Francisco, CA, during the scientific session on "Issues of Sexuality," the Gay Liberation Movement disrupted the meeting. The protestors were infuriated about the "mind renovation technique" of aversive therapy used on homosexuals. The organized homosexual group argued that the therapists were forcing the patient to conform to social mores rather than assisting the patient in adjustment.
