Health & Healing Collaborative

Expanding Access to Mental Health Care in the Bronx

group of people in a church discussing mental health

The Health & Healing Collaborative is an initiative of the APA Foundation, in partnership with Elev8 Health, to improve access to culturally responsive, high-quality mental health care for Bronx residents, especially those living with serious mental illness (SMI). By bringing together clinicians, faith leaders, community organizations, and local partners, we're helping more people connect with the care and support they need in English and Spanish.

Our Approach

The Health & Healing Collaborative is built around three key priorities:

  • Improve Clinical Knowledge & Skills by providing evidence-based training and resources focused on serious mental illness.
  • Increase Clinical Capacity & Build the Workforce through partnerships with local clinics, psychiatric fellows, and future mental health professionals.
  • Increase Referrals Through Faith & Community Partnerships by equipping trusted community leaders to recognize mental health needs and connect individuals with care.

Connect Through Our Faith Partners

Mental health support starts in trusted community spaces. The Health & Healing Collaborative partners with local churches throughout the Bronx where community members can meet with trained Mental Health Care Navigators, receive mental health check-ins, learn about available resources, and get connected with local mental health providers.
