The Homosexuality Issue — Disorder or Lifestyle
Ronald Gold (1930-2017) was an active voice in the Gay Liberation Movement and a member of the Gay Activist Alliance (GAA). In 1973, he co-founded the National Gay Task Force and pushed for more positive and accurate portrayals of gay people.
At the APA's 1973 Annual Meeting in Honolulu, he read aloud his paper titled "Stop it, you’re making me sick!” His speech was part of a larger movement that helped lead to the removal of homosexuality from the DSM-II, a major turning point in both psychiatry and LGBTQ+ rights.
