Petros Levounis, M.D. has lectured extensively on LGBTQ+ topics and has published 16 books including the award winning “LGBT Casebook” and the guide to “LGBTQ Mental Health: Understanding the Spectrum of Gender and Sexuality.” In 2014, he was appointed as chair of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) president’s taskforce on the needs of LGBT patients, which led to the seminal publication of the “WPA position statement on gender identity and same-sex orientation, attraction, and behaviors.” In 2017, he was elected as an honorary member of the WPA. Dr. Levounis is married to actor Lukas Hassel and lives in New York City.
