Lecture Title: John Fryer Award Lecture: Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Fryer: 54 Years of LGBTQ+ Advocacy Within Psychiatry
Nanette Gartrell, M.D., is Visiting Distinguished Scholar, Williams Institute, UCLA School of Law, and Guest Appointee, University of Amsterdam. A graduate of Stanford University and the University of California, she completed a psychiatry residency and fellowship at Harvard Medical School and served on the faculties of Harvard Medical School and UCSF. In the 1980s-90s, she led a series of investigations into sexual misconduct by physicians. She is the principal investigator of the ongoing U.S. National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study, now in its 37th year with a 90% retention rate to date.
